NYSNA nurses fought and cleared a major hurdle on one of the key sticking points in bargaining—maintaining health benefits for frontline nurses and our families. Working through mediators, Mount Sinai and NewYork-Presbyterian agreed to maintain the current high-quality NYSNA Plan A health coverage without cuts.

Hospitals and NYSNA must still reach final tentative contract agreements.

NYSNA nurses at all four hospitals are ready and willing to bargain in good faith on other priority issues to settle fair contracts whenever mediators call us back to the table.

Nearly 15,000 nurses continue to strike until we reach full tentative contract agreements that protect patient and nurse safety. Due to the winter storm advisory, striking nurses will suspend our picket lines Monday and restart picketing on Tuesday. CIR Committee of Interns and Residents will join Monte nurses on the picket line Monday at 6 pm. Our picketing and pressure is making a difference! Stay tuned.

“The nation’s nurses, who make it their mission to care for and save human lives, are horrified and outraged that immigration agents have once again committed cold-blooded murder of a public observer who posed no threat to them. This time, they have executed one of our fellow nurses, Alex Pretti, who saved veterans’ lives as an intensive care unit RN for the Veterans Health Administration. He not only advocated for his patients inside the VA as a member of American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), but also took his advocacy to the streets to stand up for his community as nurses do. We demand justice and accountability for his murder."

VICTORY: Last week, NYSNA nurses at Northwell/Huntington Hospital voted to ratify a new contract! For the first time, Huntington nurses have enforceable safe staffing language in their union contract, a huge victory for Long Island nurses and patients! Nurses were also able to settle the contract with no takeaways and significant improvements on wages.

Congratulations, Huntington nurses, keep up the great work defending patient care in your community!

Freezing temps. Unshakable resolve.

Nurses turned out in force on the picket line a day after management reneged on their commitment to maintain nurses’ health benefits. This strike is about safe staffing, healthcare benefits, and protection from workplace violence — and nothing will stop nurses from showing their power.

01/24/2026

Yesterday, NYSNA nurses rallied in solidarity with the immigrant communities and patients in Minneapolis and NY demanding of our hospitals and the city.

Today, that message rings ever more true. Our hearts go out to the loved ones of Alex Pretti, RN. We continue and must speak out to protect our patients, our communities, and our own fellow nurses too.

Let’s be clear: the continues because management at lied at the negotiating table and failed to deliver on our health benefits.

Nurses are ready to bargain. Patients are waiting. We deserve fair contracts now!

Breaking: Striking NYC nurses make announcement on bargaining breakdown

01/24/2026

Parents of CHONY patients like Fatima Corniel know that nurses make the difference in care. She witnessed nurses struggle with unsafe staffing conditions and skip their breaks during long days to care for her daughter. Patients and parents like her are calling on hospital management to prioritize patient care and negotiate a fair contract now!

As the CBS New York report says, "The care that nurses gave didn't end at discharge and neither has the support."

NYSNA nurses across Mount Sinai, Montefiore, and NewYork-Presbyterian have always shown up at the bargaining table ready to negotiate, but we will not cut corners on patient and nurse safety. Nurses are ready to bargain everyday with management and settle fair contracts that protect patient and nurse safety
