Meet our therapist, Carveth Martin!

Carveth is motivated by the belief that with guidance and commitment, individuals, communities, and even cultures have the capacity to mitigate past traumas and change harmful patterns. She works deeply and kindly with life’s complexities: from despair to the urge to create, from feelings of low self-esteem or shame to the capacity for love. Centering the client as the expert of their own experience, she collaborates to create a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship.

At the heart of Carveth’s practice is the view that healing is an act of radical self-compassion. As an Integrative Psychotherapist intern, she practices from a de-stigmatizing, multicultural, intersectional perspective recognizing that healing looks different for everyone and cannot be reduced to one method. She uses anti-racist, trauma-informed, affirming, and strengths-based approaches, with a focus on mindfulness and the mind-body-spirit connection. Her work is rooted in social justice, ensuring that each person’s experiences, identities, and values are central to the healing process.

Carveth is eager to work with people from many paths of life. Her experience includes helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity, intimacy, relationships and family, and self-esteem. Prior to pursuing the study of psychotherapy, she worked to defend women’s reproductive healthcare and in a variety of non-profit and advocacy spaces.

Meet Kenn, one of our amazing interns at IHI! 🎊

💛 To increase access to therapeutic care, during October and November, we have been offering subsidized sessions with our interns, including Kenn.

Only 11 days left for our $65/session discount! Book today ✨

Kenn is a q***r, first-generation Caribbean American, Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT) intern with a passion for providing affirming, relational, and justice-oriented care. Rooted in systemic theory and cultural humility, their approach to therapy is deeply informed by lived experience and a commitment to challenging oppressive structures within mental health.

As a Marriage & Family Therapy intern, Kenn works with individuals, couples, and families to explore how relational patterns, cultural contexts, and systemic forces shape emotional experiences and communication. They support clients in navigating identity development, intergenerational dynamics, and conflict resolution, with a focus on fostering connection, understanding, and healing across difference.

Kenn brings experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, with particular focus on intersectionality, trans and nonbinary identities, race relations, neurodivergence, and trauma. As an anti-capitalist clinician, Kenn believes in decentering pathology and reframing emotional struggles within broader sociopolitical contexts. Their practice draws from postmodern, strengths-based, and non-pathologizing frameworks, aiming to co-create therapeutic spaces that honor identity, community, and resistance as essential parts of healing. They are influenced by q***r theory, feminism, disability justice, and an awareness of how capitalism, white supremacy, and cisheteronormativity impact mental health and relationships.

Kenn is especially passionate about empowering partners and families navigating complex identities and systemic oppression, as well as with neurodivergent clients including those with autism and ADHD.

Fun fact: When they’re not in session, you can find Kenn exploring worlds through gaming or curled up with their cat.

Learn more about Kenn and book a session with them on our site! 👏

It’s not too late — we’re 94% of the way to our goal, and we’re stoked to finish strong! 💪🌈

Every contribution helps cultivate life-saving access to LGBTQ+-affirming therapy provided by therapists who vigorously study the impacts of marginalization, support clients in navigating its detriments, and often live these experiences themselves as q***r folx.

Your donation directly funds sliding-scale therapy, training for emerging clinicians, and vital outreach support that extend our impact beyond our walls. Donate today to make a difference! 💛
