This April, we celebrate Occupational Therapy Month by reflecting on what it truly means to support participation in everyday life—what American Occupational Therapy Association - AOTA describes as “enriching lives through meaningful engagement.”
At Columbia University Occupational Therapy, our mission is to prepare a diverse group of practitioners to lead in promoting health, well-being, and adaptation through occupation across communities and contexts.
This means looking beyond function to what truly matters—supporting individuals in engaging in the routines, roles, and environments that shape their lives.
From rebuilding daily activities to navigating new and complex realities throughout life, our students and clinicians are trained to understand the full picture: person, environment, and lived experience.
This is how we celebrate OT Month—by preparing practitioners who meet people where they are and help make everyday life possible.
