08:00-8:30: Cornea Diagnostics
• Introduction to current cornea diagnostics and their relative differences: Placido Topography, Scheimpflug tomography, Anterior segment OCT, LED color reflection topography
• Corneal epithelial mapping and its clinical relevance in diagnosis and treatment
• Basic principles in employing topography data (Scheimpflug based and/or Placido-based) in the customization of an excimer corneal ablation.
Overview and case presentations with the Wavelight, Schwind and Ivis platforms
• Topography astigmatism, centroid and angle kappa considerations for possible revision of the clinical refraction used in each ablation
8:30-9:00: Customized Treatments
• Topography customized methodology for virgin myopic and hyperopic eyes. Practice hands-on on the workshop laptops
• Topography customized methodology for irregular corneas (previously treated: RK, decentered and/or irregular ablations, as well as irregular and ectasia cases). Practice on-site, hands-on
• Anticipating asphericity and sphere compensatory nomograms for better spherical correction and emmetropia.
• Participants will gain advance access online to over 200 cases examples (pre-op data, treatment design, treatment video, postop data and overview of successful and even problematic cases)
• Complications assessment and management
9:00-9:30: “Wet-lab” hands-on treatment designing
• Each participant will have the chance to design several treatments on site from pre-loaded material, or bring their own cases to load!

Mini PRK with CustomQ asphericity optimization and TMR! These are the almost 3 week images of a 29 yo lady we corrected with our customized epithelial removal PRK/OU ( mini PRK) on 21DEC23 we treated OD:-3,50/OS;-3,75 with PRK due to thin cornea
She is using Dexamethasone 0.1% 4/4 for tge first month to continue with Lotemax 2/2 for the second. Strict protection from sun ☀️ with the special sunglasses we provide and cap plus 1000mg Vitamin C per day. She was 20/20 right after the procedure blurrier the next day and we were able to remove the bandage contacts at day 3 as she quicly re-epithelialized due to the small area of epithelial removal we did with the EBK device to accelerate recovery
UDVA OD 9/10 pH 10/10, OS 9/10 pH 10/10 OU 10/10+!!!

Pt is very happy today!

Today’s examination :
UDVA OD : 12/10 UDVA OS : 12/10 UDVA OU 16/10! ( gained 2 lines of vision)
IOP : 10mmHg/OU adjusted for pach 14
Clear cornea/OU, the elithelial@maps show continued epitheliL remodeling -it has to “turn” all green to be naive, the “cost” of topical steroid use, that on tge other hand offer clarity in the cornea! Customization of a Laservision correction in our protocol includes the detailed evaluation of the patient, postoperative and customization of the postoperative regimen to achieve the maximum possible result, as clearly evident in our very nice patient here!!! reminded po instructions
Pt is living abroad. I recommended a PO appointment when she is back, maybe during summer.

I have some questions about Athens protocol. I hope you have the time to answer them.

I read you do first TG PRK and then PTK? So, you do the PRK over the epithelium? And the PTK is fixed in 50u or you decided according to an epithelial OCT map ? I’m doing the PTK first guided by epithelial map and then TG PRK

MMC 0.02% 20 seconds is OK?

I have patients with beautiful bow ties but no CDVA improvements. Do you think the posterior corneal irregularities can play a role here?

Do you have a minimum patients age? Or a maximum Kmax?
