My Path since I completed my Medicine Residency at New York Presbyterian Queens in Internal Medicine hasn’t been exactly all sunshine and rainbows, it has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions, some tragedies, and some triumphs.
It also hasn’t had a lack of learning experiences and experiences for growth and development in so many areas.
Many people that know me well will say I changed. What they don’t know is, I haven’t changed, I just have come to realize what is really important in life, and to me. I have learned what I want to do, who I want to be with, where I want to go, and what I want to accomplish in my lifetime.
Having 5 years laying on a couch recovering from 5 back surgeries gave me unlimited time to think, and ponder about who I was, who I want to be, and what I would do if I could ever walk normal again and live a normal life.
After I had my spinal cord stimulator implanted in 2014, it gave me the ability to walk enough to start rehab, and got me far enough where I would benefit from a spinal fusion, that eventually, against all odds, and what I and many other physicians I came across would consider a medical miracle, got me back to an almost normal life and back at work practicing medicine, amazingly enough as an emergency medicine physician in one of the busiest ER’s in the country.
Despite the miracle recovery, the lessons were learned, and what i found was, the ultimate goal in life should not be a fancy career, or title or money, it should be Time Freedom which is priceless…
