In November, we proudly launched The Creative Heart, an innovative new series at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that explores how imagination, spirituality, and artistic expression can serve as meaningful resources in cancer care. The inaugural two-hour event featured engaging conversations and creative demonstrations with award-winning Chef JJ Johnson and Will Schwalbe, author of the bestselling memoir The End of Your Life Book Club.

Both speakers offered practical insights on weaving creativity into daily life, alongside powerful personal reflections on how their creative pursuits — cooking, writing, and reading — have sustained them through challenging times and helped them thrive. Their passion, which they each described as an “obsession,” was contagious and deeply inspiring to the 79 participants in attendance, including patients, family members, caregivers, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

Today we celebrate Healthcare Continuing Education Professionals Day, honoring the vital role CE professionals play in advancing healthcare quality and improving patient outcomes. Observed annually on January 23, this day recognizes those who champion lifelong learning and help ensure providers remain informed, competent, and prepared to deliver the highest standard of care.

The mission of our CME program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is to advance the competence and performance of healthcare professionals in oncology and related disciplines in support of MSK’s mission to end cancer for life. Each year, this program serves as a vital forum for exchanging insights and exploring the latest evidence-based and multidisciplinary approaches to treating colorectal cancer—all with the goal of advancing clinical practice and improving patient outcomes. Last week, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center hosted Advancing Osteosarcoma Care: From Bench to Bedside, an annual symposium highlighting the latest advances in the multidisciplinary surgical care of pediatric oncology patients. Jointly presented by MSK’s Departments of Surgery and Pediatrics, this year’s program focused on the state-of-the-art, collaborative care of pediatric and concluded with a powerful session on the human side of osteosarcoma, featuring patient perspectives.

Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Continuing Medical Education (MSK CME) program sponsors a variety of educational activities, including CME accredited conferences and hands-on skills training for healthcare professionals.

Our Purpose:

MSK CME strives to provide an educational platform to disseminate new and current knowledge of the etiology, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and allied diseases.

MSK CME aims to enhance the training and growth of physicians and other healthcare professionals.

MSK CME designs activities with up-to-date scientific research, clinical knowledge, and treatment modalities which can be applied to various types and stages of cancer and allied diseases.

Our Audience:

The target audience for MSK CME programs includes attending physicians, oncologists, multidisciplinary practice teams, physicians in the MSK regional networks and off-site facilities, and other scientists, nurses and allied healthcare professionals.

Our Activities:

MSK CME offers a range of accredited activities including:

Live and Online Courses intended to expand the training of physicians and other healthcare professionals. The content of the activities is created with the inclusion of innovative research findings, clinical information, and treatment modalities and their applications to various types and stages of cancer and allied diseases to a global audience

Regularly Scheduled Courses (RSS) covering a range of topics and specialties that are available throughout the year to the MSK community, as well as offered to our regional partners through video-conferencing technology.
