❗️We have to do better!

First off, this isn’t to throw shade or

But I do think it’s a discussion we need to have more of:
1️⃣ Why do we make people think there is some special formula for pain?
2️⃣ Why do many clinicians blame them for not getting better?

❗️This isn’t a “physio” problem by the way, it’s a healthcare one.

We have all had this experience whether or not you’re a client or a therapist.

But why not ask:
1️⃣ Are the times we are scheduling the best for you?
2️⃣ Would virtual appointments be better for you to be consistent?
3️⃣ What opportunities do you have with work, childcare, etc?
4️⃣ How important is rehab for you right now?

🗣️ If you’re a clinician I want to know: What would you do in this situation?

🗣️ If you’re a client I want to know: Have you have ever felt blame as a client by a provider?

Everyone’s looking for the next pain relief hack…
♨️ Red light therapy.
🧊 Cold plunges.
💉 Peptides.
…The list goes on and on…

But remember👇
🛠️ These are recovery TOOLS—not solutions.

If you’re dealing with:

😣 Chronic pain
🤕 Injuries that keep coming back
🫩 Feeling “not recovered” all the time

🎛️ It’s usually not because you’re missing a device.
📉 It’s because your body doesn’t have the appropriate capacity yet to handle a given stimulus.

👉 Stronger tissues
👉 Better movement
👉 Consistency
🟰 Actual Results

♨️ Yes—red light therapy, warmth, and other inputs can help you FEEL better.
💔 But feeling better ≠ fixing the problem.

❌ The goal isn’t temporary relief.
✅ The goal is long-term change.

❌ Stop chasing tools.
✅ Start building your body.

🥳 From being afraid of walking around the block, to pushing her husband to go for an evening stroll every night!

🌎 Pain shrinks our worlds and ultimately becomes a big part of it.
👉🏼 But what if instead of trying to eliminate our pain in a small world we make our worlds so big that pain is only small fraction of it.

🫩 Too many clinicians are stuck fighting pain along with their clients that everyone ends up stuck, frustrated and unsure of what to do next.

✅ But when you realize that exercise, movement and simply living cannot only be a part of your rehab but also the pathway to your goals everything comes into alignment.

📕 In the book, Feeling Great, David Burns proposes that our negative emotions are actually a sign of what is RIGHT with us.
👉🏼 This has always impacted the way we practice.

📈 Imagine thinking about the GOOD of pain, and accepting it as a part of you rather than something to fight or eliminate.

Some REAL things clients have told us:
🤝 Pain allowed me to meet new people
🧰 Pain allowed me to find a new career
🤯 Pain allowed me to learn more about myself
🔑 PAIN ALLOWED

💥 Changing your thinking is a part of the process of getting stronger and more conditioned - if you need help we are here.

🗣️ Pain lies to us!

❌ It will make us think we can’t.
❌ It will make us think we shouldn’t.
❌ And then it will make us unable to do anything we love at all.

🚶🏻‍♂️ Walking is some of the easiest low hanging fruit clients are not taking advantage of when it comes to getting more movement and exercise in their life.

📕 And I think someone just wrote a book about it…

⏰ Don’t have 10 minutes, 5 will do!
☀️ Can’t go outside? Walk around your table or march in place…it’s all good.

❌ If you’re stuck in pain, tell us if the following statements sound familiar:
🗣️ I’m always injured.
🗣️ Sure I ran, but I’ll never run a marathon.
🗣️ The pain came back, it must mean it’s not healed or worse than before.
🗣️ I am a failed/hopeless case.

💌 We hear these things all the time, which is why we want to share this resource with you.

💥 Comment “LIES” and we will send you the webinar which includes action steps on how to break the cycle.

🔑 If there was one recent message that captured the healthcare space thanks to the new ACSM Guidelines it is this:
👉🏼 ANYTHING is better than nothing!
👉🏼 Up to 70% of people in the US are not meeting activity requirements!

👀 I think a lot of this has to do around the perception of exercise and what people think it needs to “look” like to be successful -
❌ Something we reframe for our clients in pain every single day!

🌈 Exercise, load, etc is simply an INPUT!
👉🏼 My heart, lungs, muscles, etc DO NOT care if that was from running, walking, barbells, kettlebells or bands.
🫠 But, it definitely does care if it doesn’t get done.

💥 This is why I’m so excited for WALK to be released this May, and we can start looking at walking as a physiological need…that can be adapted and personalized for the person in front of us.

‼️ This is the shift chronic pain care has been missing for a long time.

We focus on what’s “wrong”:
❌ Weakness
❌ Imbalance
❌ Posture

💪🏼 Why not ask, what’s STRONG, and how we can leverage those factors to drive outcomes?

📝 This scoping review highlights something most rehab plans ignore:
👉🏼 Protective factors drive better function and lower disability, and the biggest one that keeps coming up?

☀️ Self-Efficacy

But these matter too:
– Resilience + Coping Strategies
– Sleep and Activity Habits
– Social Support + Environment

🗣️ Translation?
Pain isn’t just something we reduce.
It’s something we help patients outgrow.

Let’s start building people—and stop trying to tear down symptoms.

❤️ Drop a “☀️” if you’re a clinician or client who is ready to focus on the bigger picture!

🗓️ Injuries and pain can creep up at the worst time

🏆 As it gets closer to your event or goal stress accumulates and it can leave us a bit more vulnerable to injury

🔎 That’s why we need simple assessments, treatments and guidance to meet people where they are at (and it’s usually the best route anyway!)

📈 Simple solutions, done consistently, progressed accordingly are often great keys to success.

📝 Initial Evaluation -
Clinician: “Hey fun fact about pain! Hurt is not harm.”
Patient: “Cool. Cool.”

🕰️ 3 Days Later -
Patient: “My back hurt when I ran the other day.”
Clinician: Ok let’s hold off from running for a bit.

🫠

No wonder why so many people are stuck, confused, and uncertain when it comes to rehab and pain.

Many providers are giving too many mixed signals when it comes to pain.

🙋🏻‍♂️ So here are some better questions for you:

1️⃣ Was the pain tolerable?
2️⃣ Did it increase during the workout?
3️⃣ How did it respond 6/12/24 hours later?
4️⃣ Are you concerned?
5️⃣ Did you notice range, weight, position, speed, effort, or volume factor into how you’re feeling?

💊 When given a false dichotomy (No pain = Good and Pain = Bad) you’re going to be left without a real solution.

“Bone-on-bone.”

If you’ve ever been told that, you probably felt like your joint was done.

Like you should stop running, stop lifting…
or start seriously thinking about surgery.

But here’s the truth 👇

That phrase gets used way too loosely — and often without necessary context and nuance.

Because:

* Imaging doesn’t predict pain very well
* Plenty of people with “bone-on-bone” have minimal symptoms
* And avoiding movement usually makes things worse, not better

What actually matters is what you do after that diagnosis.
The people who do best aren’t the ones who rest forever…
They’re the ones who:
✔️ Build strength
✔️ Gradually reload the joint
✔️ Improve their overall capacity

Your body is adaptable — even with arthritis.

If you’ve been told you’re “bone-on-bone” and feel stuck, you’re not alone.

We help active people get back to running, lifting, and training without being limited by scary imaging results.
