Bridge Street Development

Bridge Street Development We do this through six (6) Program Areas:

Housing Development
We create and preserve high quality affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents.

BSDC is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to build partnerships to provide civic and economic improvements to the people of Central Brooklyn. Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the mission of which is to build partnerships with businesses, government, and other community stakeholders to provide civic and economic opportunities to the residents of Central Brooklyn with a focus on low to moderate-income households. Our vision is to preserve Bedford-Stuyvesant and the adjacent neighborhoods of central and eastern Brooklyn as a desirable neighborhood for raising families, owning businesses and taking part in rich cultural, spiritual and recreational opportunities. Our motto, “Building on Community Strength,” describes our core belief that the most effective way to improve a community is to develop and promote local assets, including people, homes, businesses, and organizations. Community Engagement
We work block by block to empower residents to become active citizens, fully involved in improving the quality of life in their community. Youth Workforce Development
Provides young adults from Central Brooklyn, who are between the ages of 14 and 24—and who are both in and out of school, with comprehensive workforce development, civic engagement, and service-learning opportunities. Economic Development
With a focus on Central Brooklyn, we facilitate neighborhood revitalization efforts and create long term economic stability. This includes Open Streets, Merchant Organizing and One to One Technical Assistance and Resources. Senior Services
Based at Quincy Senior Residences, we provide a holistic environment for active seniors to age in place. We offer health/wellness, educational, social, and recreational programming for the building’s residents and seniors from the surrounding community. Bridge Street Development Corporation was founded in 1995 by members of the oldest continuing African-American congregation in Brooklyn: the Bridge Street African Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church. BSDC serves the Central Brooklyn community, primarily Bedford-Stuyvesant, which has a long history and a rich architectural and cultural heritage.

Bridge Street is proud to share that our President & CEO, Gregory Anderson, was recognized by Brooklyn Org as one of this year’s Brooklyn 25 and one of eight Champions for Housing — a tremendous honor highlighting leaders advancing equity, opportunity, and community power across the borough.

It was inspiring to stand alongside so many visionary changemakers committed to strengthening Brooklyn’s neighborhoods. Congratulations to all the honorees, and thank you to Brooklyn Org for uplifting this work and investing in a more just, inclusive future for all Brooklynites.

Last Saturday, November 22nd, Quincy Senior Residence came alive with laughter, music, and cross-generational interactions during a special Thanksgiving-themed event called “Dinner N’ Discussions”. Hosted by SneakPeek and Stuy Nights, the evening brought together young professionals from across Bed-Stuy to mingle, share stories, and build bonds with older adults in the community.

Guests enjoyed a warm, bountiful holiday meal together, complete with appetizers donated by Roger’s Burgers (thank you Josue Pierre). The room filled with smiles as everyone engaged in icebreaker conversations and sang oldies but goodies. Sparking memories, lively discussions and ultimately bridging the gap. Community pride was in full effect as District Leader Henry Butler stopped by to show his support. Greg and family also made an appearance, spending time with residents and joining in on the conversations. Be sure to check out the News 12 clip too!

This event highlighted the power of bringing generations together - young adults gaining wisdom and perspective, and seniors feeling celebrated, heard, and included. Dinner N’ Discussions was a reminder that community grows stronger when we make time to connect.

A special thank you to all the community volunteers; to Sheba, Cybil and Julio of SneakPeek; to Jah of Stuy Nights; to those who contributed to the wonderful dinner and dessert; and of course, to Shawn and Shantel. Their hard work made the evening smooth, joyful, and full of heart.

Stay tuned… the next SneakPeek will bring the Comedy Club to Quincy.

On November 20th, Bridge Street’s Quincy senior residents enjoyed a truly heartwarming “Dinner with Siri.”
Our seniors shared a delicious meal together — and were treated to free haircuts, nail services, fresh flowers, and generous holiday bundles including groceries, a turkey, and a hen.
We were honored to welcome NYC Councilmember Chi Ossé and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, who didn’t just attend but rolled up their sleeves to serve food and spend meaningful time with our seniors.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible partners:
• The District Attorney's Office and their dedicated staff
• Woodhull Hospital Healthcare
• The Mayor's Office of Public Engagement
• The NYC Hate Crime Unit

We were also proud to have the presence of District Attorney Eric Gonzalez and a warm welcome from Assemblywoman Monique Chandler-Waterman (District 58).
A special thank-you goes to Tenant Association President Vernel Cooper and Shawn Peyton of Bridge Street Development Corp. Your leadership and support helped create a day filled with joy, dignity, and community.
From bingo games to shared laughter, it was a beautiful reminder of what it means to care for — and celebrate — our seniors. 🧡✨

On Friday, November 21, the Bridge Street Economic Development Team proudly volunteered alongside the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office to help distribute Thanksgiving provisions to the community.

Thousands of pounds of fresh vegetables, turkeys, and other holiday staples were sorted, bagged, and loaded into vehicles serving organizations across Brooklyn.

It was a meaningful day of teamwork, service, and gratitude. And as an added bonus, volunteers even had the chance to meet players from the NY Liberty Women’s Basketball Team!

Giving back is always a win for Brooklyn.
