Bridge Street Development

Bridge Street Development We do this through six (6) Program Areas:

Housing Development
We create and preserve high quality affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents.

BSDC is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to build partnerships to provide civic and economic improvements to the people of Central Brooklyn. Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the mission of which is to build partnerships with businesses, government, and other community stakeholders to provide civic and economic opportunities to the residents of Central Brooklyn with a focus on low to moderate-income households. Our vision is to preserve Bedford-Stuyvesant and the adjacent neighborhoods of central and eastern Brooklyn as a desirable neighborhood for raising families, owning businesses and taking part in rich cultural, spiritual and recreational opportunities. Our motto, “Building on Community Strength,” describes our core belief that the most effective way to improve a community is to develop and promote local assets, including people, homes, businesses, and organizations. Community Engagement
We work block by block to empower residents to become active citizens, fully involved in improving the quality of life in their community. Youth Workforce Development
Provides young adults from Central Brooklyn, who are between the ages of 14 and 24—and who are both in and out of school, with comprehensive workforce development, civic engagement, and service-learning opportunities. Economic Development
With a focus on Central Brooklyn, we facilitate neighborhood revitalization efforts and create long term economic stability. This includes Open Streets, Merchant Organizing and One to One Technical Assistance and Resources. Senior Services
Based at Quincy Senior Residences, we provide a holistic environment for active seniors to age in place. We offer health/wellness, educational, social, and recreational programming for the building’s residents and seniors from the surrounding community. Bridge Street Development Corporation was founded in 1995 by members of the oldest continuing African-American congregation in Brooklyn: the Bridge Street African Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church. BSDC serves the Central Brooklyn community, primarily Bedford-Stuyvesant, which has a long history and a rich architectural and cultural heritage.

💖 Celebrating the spirit of love at Quincy Senior Residence! 💖
What a heartwarming day filled with community, poetry, music, and a little pampering. A huge thank you to the incredible vendors who donated their time and services to make our seniors feel extra special this Valentine’s Day.
And a special shoutout to our “silent cupids” spreading joy all afternoon with festive decorations and sweet treats - you truly made the day magical!

On Monday, February 9, 2026, Bridge Street Development Corporation hosted Meet the Funders 2.0: A Collaborative Circle at Medgar Evers College — bringing together philanthropic leaders and Brooklyn-based community organizations for a candid conversation on funding, partnership, and long-term sustainability.

Our panelists shared practical insights on building authentic relationships with funders, preparing competitive proposals, and navigating today’s increasingly competitive funding landscape. The room was at capacity, and the discussion reinforced an important theme: collaboration over competition as a pathway to deeper impact.

We are grateful to our distinguished panelists:

Shimonah Israel (Citi Community Investing)

Dr. Jocelynne Rainey (Brooklyn Org)

Gregg Bishop (Social Justice Fund, Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation)

Johari Jenkins (Con Edison)

Special thanks to Dr. Patricia Ramsey and the team at Medgar Evers College for graciously hosting both Meet the Funders convenings and for their continued partnership.

Bridge Street remains committed to serving as a trusted convener within Brooklyn’s philanthropic and community development ecosystem.

On Saturday, January 24th, Bridge Street attended the Youth Empowerment Summit, hosted by Congressman Hakeem Jeffries and Assemblymember Latrice M. Walker, which brought together over two dozen community organizations, employers, and service providers. The event provided youth and families seeking access to youth employment opportunities, family resources, and direct connections to organizations supporting youth development. The strong turnout, despite the extreme cold, highlighted the community’s commitment to expanding access to youth jobs and resources.
