Bridge Street Development

Bridge Street Development We do this through six (6) Program Areas:

Housing Development
We create and preserve high quality affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents.

BSDC is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to build partnerships to provide civic and economic improvements to the people of Central Brooklyn. Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the mission of which is to build partnerships with businesses, government, and other community stakeholders to provide civic and economic opportunities to the residents of Central Brooklyn with a focus on low to moderate-income households. Our vision is to preserve Bedford-Stuyvesant and the adjacent neighborhoods of central and eastern Brooklyn as a desirable neighborhood for raising families, owning businesses and taking part in rich cultural, spiritual and recreational opportunities. Our motto, “Building on Community Strength,” describes our core belief that the most effective way to improve a community is to develop and promote local assets, including people, homes, businesses, and organizations. Community Engagement
We work block by block to empower residents to become active citizens, fully involved in improving the quality of life in their community. Youth Workforce Development
Provides young adults from Central Brooklyn, who are between the ages of 14 and 24—and who are both in and out of school, with comprehensive workforce development, civic engagement, and service-learning opportunities. Economic Development
With a focus on Central Brooklyn, we facilitate neighborhood revitalization efforts and create long term economic stability. This includes Open Streets, Merchant Organizing and One to One Technical Assistance and Resources. Senior Services
Based at Quincy Senior Residences, we provide a holistic environment for active seniors to age in place. We offer health/wellness, educational, social, and recreational programming for the building’s residents and seniors from the surrounding community. Bridge Street Development Corporation was founded in 1995 by members of the oldest continuing African-American congregation in Brooklyn: the Bridge Street African Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church. BSDC serves the Central Brooklyn community, primarily Bedford-Stuyvesant, which has a long history and a rich architectural and cultural heritage.

Friday, October 31st, MYBASE was invited to perform at the 2025 Masquerade on Macon at the Brooklyn Public Library/Macon Branch. Masquerade on Macon is an annual Halloween theatrical event in Bed Stuy Brooklyn, sponsored by the Friends of the Macon Library. This year, the play was based on a series of short stories by Edgar Allen Poe. MYBASE participants rehearsed on weekends for the past month, preparing for this event and may I add- they were SPECTACULAR! We truly have some budding stars in MYBASE! Kyi Lewis and Shelima Wilson even made the news! https://brooklyn.news12.com/annual-masquerade-on-macon-live-performances-enchant-bed-stuy-audiences

We would like to thank the staff at the Macon Library, Grace Hoyte, Daniel Thompson, Nailah Manns and the Macon Friends of The Library team for inviting us to be a part of their Halloween celebration. We are already looking forward to next year!

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Quincy Senior Residence! On September 19, our residents enjoyed a vibrant and joyful celebration in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month!

The festivities kicked off with a lively mariachi band performance that set the perfect tone for the day. Residents sampled a variety of delicious traditional foods, bringing the rich flavors of Hispanic culture to life. The fun continued with a spirited round of Hispanic bingo from Mexico and a lively "Name the Flag" game—where winners took home some great prizes and gifts!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event so special.

On Saturday, Oct 4th, 2025 the BedStuy Works Alliance of Block and Resident Associations, in partnership with Bridge Street Development Corporation, hosted its monthly meeting at the Quincy Senior Residence. Representatives from the offices of Council Member Chi Ossé and Assembly Member Stefani Zinerman, alongside District Leader Henry Butler (56th Assembly District) were all in attendance.

The meeting featured an informative presentation from Shelton Jones of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, which focused on current public safety strategies and legal protections. And from Tyrone McDonald of NHS Brooklyn, which shared critical homeowner resources, including home repair programs, mortgage assistance, and first-time homebuyer support.

The gathering reflected the ongoing commitment of the Alliance to elevate resident voices, encourage civic partnerships, and build a more secure and empowered BedStuy.

We remain grateful to our presenters, public officials, civic leaders and community members for their continued participation.
