Bridge Street Development

Bridge Street Development We do this through six (6) Program Areas:

Housing Development
We create and preserve high quality affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents.

BSDC is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to build partnerships to provide civic and economic improvements to the people of Central Brooklyn. Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the mission of which is to build partnerships with businesses, government, and other community stakeholders to provide civic and economic oppor

tunities to the residents of Central Brooklyn with a focus on low to moderate-income households. Our vision is to preserve Bedford-Stuyvesant and the adjacent neighborhoods of central and eastern Brooklyn as a desirable neighborhood for raising families, owning businesses and taking part in rich cultural, spiritual and recreational opportunities. Our motto, “Building on Community Strength,” describes our core belief that the most effective way to improve a community is to develop and promote local assets, including people, homes, businesses, and organizations. Community Engagement
We work block by block to empower residents to become active citizens, fully involved in improving the quality of life in their community. Youth Workforce Development
Provides young adults from Central Brooklyn, who are between the ages of 14 and 24—and who are both in and out of school, with comprehensive workforce development, civic engagement, and service-learning opportunities. Economic Development
With a focus on Central Brooklyn, we facilitate neighborhood revitalization efforts and create long term economic stability. This includes Open Streets, Merchant Organizing and One to One Technical Assistance and Resources. Senior Services
Based at Quincy Senior Residences, we provide a holistic environment for active seniors to age in place. We offer health/wellness, educational, social, and recreational programming for the building’s residents and seniors from the surrounding community. Bridge Street Development Corporation was founded in 1995 by members of the oldest continuing African-American congregation in Brooklyn: the Bridge Street African Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church. BSDC serves the Central Brooklyn community, primarily Bedford-Stuyvesant, which has a long history and a rich architectural and cultural heritage.

Today at Quincy, we hosted a beautiful Art Therapy Experience designed to bring seniors together in a space of relaxation, creativity, and connection.

Residents enjoyed soothing music, light refreshments, and a guided painting session.

Moments like these remind us that community is built not just through services, but through shared experiences that bring joy, dignity, and connection.

We’re proud to continue creating spaces like this for our seniors and the broader Bed-Stuy community.

We had an amazing time celebrating Women’s History Month with our Seniors and MYBASE youth! The Laundry Mat Project led artistic activities featuring inspiring mantras and songs, and two of our talented seniors even performed a beautiful song.We were joined by the Macon Branch Library librarian, who shared monthly services and future collaboration ideas, including a book club. Special recognition went to some incredible women in our community! A certificate of appreciation was presented to Ms. Sandra Williams, President of the Spike Lee Block Association, who also distributed hygiene kits filled with lotion, body wash, and socks. It was a day full of creativity, connection, and celebration — thank you to all who participated!
