I’ve spent most of my life - heck, I still struggle with it - feeling the need to be perfect. What that meant was that I denied the parts of me and my past that were messy and ugly, I never gave myself permission to talk about my failures, my struggles, and where I fell short because anything but perfect was simply not who I wanted and accepted myself to be.
And that’s unsustainable and unreal.
As I come into contact and interact with those on their journeys to live in authenticity and to show up just as they are, it’s been inspiring and eye-opening for me to see that the rawness, the vulnerability, and the imperfection is where the beauty lies.
Could you imagine if every mountain was absolutely “perfect” with no divots and slumps and of the same exact height? Could you imagine if every sunset had the same colors and perfect lines every time?
Beauty is in the imperfection. Even God’s creations are seemingly “imperfect”, which makes them oh so perfect.
