Begun in 2012, Columbia University's annual Muslim Protagonist symposium is the first major conference of its scale for the burgeoning Muslim literary-social justice movement. We seek to foster a space for Muslim and marginalized writers/artists/thinkers to explore art and literature as agents of social/spiritual/intellectual change. We encourage people of Muslim and marginalized backgrounds to be protagonists in their fields and to challenge mainstream assumptions.
