Leadership. Service. Commitment.
The video below shows our Central Park Medical Unit volunteers delivering life-saving care in a critical moment.

What makes this remarkable is that CPMU is entirely volunteer-run. These are people who step up — not because they’re paid, but because they believe in service, teamwork, and community responsibility.

CPMU is more than emergency response — it’s a model of what leadership looks like:
Commitment under pressure
Collaboration across diverse backgrounds
Consistency over decades — 50 years strong in Central Park

The same values that make a team effective in an emergency are the ones that drive success in business and in life.

Every Second Counts. Every Volunteer Matters.

This image isn’t staged. It’s a real moment — one of countless calls answered each year by the Central Park Medical Unit (CPMU), when volunteers deliver life-saving care inside the World’s most famous and busiest Park.

In these moments, there are no sirens of glory — only focus, teamwork, and compassion. Our volunteers come from every walk of life: doctors, EMTs, students, and neighbors who choose to give their time so that someone else might get another tomorrow.

For over 50 years, CPMU has operated without a single paid staff member — funded entirely by community donations.
💚 No bills.
💚 No bureaucracy.
💚 Just help, when and where it’s needed most.

If this photo moves you, it’s because it reflects something deeply human — the instinct to help, the courage to act, and the belief that life is worth running toward.

We are proud to share some exciting news with you. One of the Central Park Medical Unit’s alumni has been featured in The New York Times for his extraordinary dedication to saving lives beyond Central Park.
The article highlights the impact of his service, his journey from volunteering with CPMU, and how the skills and values he developed here continue to make a difference today.
This recognition is a wonderful reminder of the legacy of our all-volunteer service and the incredible people who have been part of our family over the years.
Thank you for continuing to support and strengthen CPMU, a Unit that not only serves Central Park but also helps shape the future of emergency responders across New York and beyond.

CPMU Training Night 🚑
Once a month, our unit comes together to sharpen skills, review protocols, and run realistic simulation calls. These sessions uphold the high standards we set for ourselves—ensuring every member is prepared, and every patient receives the best care possible.

Special shoutout to our training team and dedicated primaries who take time out of their busy week to make these trainings possible!

⭐️CPMU Spotlight⭐️

Meet Ethan Gracer — a beloved member of CPMU and a true embodiment of what it means to serve with compassion and dedication.
Raised in Manhattan with Central Park as his backyard, Ethan joined the unit in 2018, driven by a desire to give back to the city he calls home. Inspired by a community that always stepped up for others, Ethan followed that example and quickly became a role model himself.
Today, Ethan is not only a trusted EMT but also a mentor and friend to many in the unit. He’s known for guiding new EMTs as they begin their journey in EMS. Whether it’s teaching someone to trust their instincts or helping them learn from mistakes, Ethan reminds us all that, "It's impossible to be human and to be perfect."
Ethan, your leadership, kindness, and commitment inspire us all. Thank you for being an irreplaceable part of CPMU — we’re grateful for everything you do.

CPMU members celebrated EMS week with a unique hands-on training hosted by our friends at The Mount Sinai Hospital

To kick off the event, Dr. Ethan Abott delivered an engaging presentation on the epidemiological overview of various interventions and their outcomes in pre-hospital cardiac arrest.

Members of CPMU had the opportunity to enhance their skills in CPR, learn how to interpret EKG rhythms, and practice advanced techniques in medication administration and airway management.

Congrats to our members, Eirene Tomlinson, Ethan Gracer, Julia Muallem, and Mark Sanders, for winning the CPR competition! Bragging rights well deserved!

And a special thank you to Dr. Sam Sondheim, Jared Kutzin, Dr. Ethan Abbott, Ed Diaz, Dr. Dimitri Alexis, and Dr. Anthony Ma for making this event possible. We had a great time and are looking forward to the next one!

Happy EMS week to all!
