Housing is a HUMAN RIGHT!

We went to Albany with 200+ supportive housing advocates to call on Governor Kathy Hochul and the NY State Legislature to fully fund in the final state budget.

Amid ongoing attacks on supportive housing at the federal level, it’s more important than ever that state leaders protect these vital programs.

A little clay, a lot of creativity, and plenty of heart. ❤️

Residents in our I/DD program at Canarsie Residence are getting ready for Valentine’s Day with a hands-on clay activity, creating thoughtful gifts for their loved ones! Activities like this support creativity, connection, and skill-building through person-centered learning.

Living on the streets is dangerous, especially in extreme weather like we’ve experienced lately, and encampments are not a humane or lasting solution.

In a new Vital City essay, ICL President & CEO Jody Rudin shares lessons from New York City’s past and makes the case for a better approach: one that clears encampments and connects people to the housing and services they want and need.
It’s a people-first strategy rooted in dignity, accountability, and real solutions.

Huge thanks to the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel for spreading some extra warmth this holiday season! ✨
Their donation of 41 boxes with towels and body lotions provided helpful essentials for the new residents of The Atlantic, ICL’s newest housing community. We’re so grateful for our partners who make new beginnings feel a little more like home!

We have some big news for the South Bronx… A 266-unit, 100% affordable and supportive housing development is coming to Morrisania! 🏠✨

ICL, alongside Gilbane Development and the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), has announced financing for Renova at 860 Concourse Village East. A defining feature of this project will be the new ICL Bronx Health Hub, bringing integrated physical health, behavioral health, and supportive services together under one roof.

This whole-health model is designed to strengthen housing stability and advance health equity across the South Bronx, all while creating a place where people can truly thrive. 💛

We wrapped up the season with so many memorable moments across our community!

From holiday cheer at the East New York Health HUB, to Santa spreading joy at Nevins Street Apartments with gifts donated by Leadership and Public Service High School, to celebrations with our Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) community as they welcomed the New Year, and ending the season with Winterfest for our incredible staff.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this holiday season so special. ❤️

This holiday season, we were honored to share a magical day with families we serve on a field trip to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall, followed by a delicious lunch at Junior's Restaurant & Cheesecake. ✨

For many parents and children, moments like these become lasting memories. Seeing their smiles reminded us what the season is all about! ❄️

A heartfelt thank you to David and Kristin Woodlock, our board members, and all the friends and supporters who made this celebration possible. 💙💙

Welcome to City Hall, Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani! We’re looking forward to working closely with the new administration to do better for our neighbors in 2026 and beyond.

Our four decades of supporting people with the most serious histories of trauma and behavioral health challenges have taught us about what it takes for people to get better. They get better with us because we design and deliver programs that work.

Swipe for four recommendations that we believe can drive New York forward. ✨
