15 years ago TODAY we opened up Fortius Physical Therapy in NYC. The patients and staff made Fortius NYC special….and special it was….The energy and traction of the business exceeded my expectations from the start. We shared countless laughs, great comradery, and provided some heartfelt energy/ healing for a long time. We also learned a lot…..

We learned that we can view the way we look at our problems through whichever prism that we choose and while that prism may not always solve the problem, it sure can help the journey. We learned that PT and life are more fun when you laugh, and that smiling through the pain (physical and mental) helps! Lastly, we learned that everything is built on solid, real, trusting relationships!

As of 1/1/23, we closed the doors to Fortius NYC. We’re carrying on the torch at our recently expanded Fortius PT in Moorestown, NJ and Evan has opened a sister company, Altius Physical Therapy in Park Ridge, NJ. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff and patients (friends) whom transversed the threshold to Fortius at 850 7th Avenue. I couldn’t be prouder of the achievements of the staff of Fortius NYC and more thankful for the trust that the friends of Fortius put in us over the years!

Fortius University Spotlight number 16!!! Took me a while to post this one about a true Fortius OG. Jaime Su is in the house! Jaime brought a great sense of humor, a gentle spirit, and some true blue NY giants fandom to Fortius. She connected beautifully with patients and staff and has become a phenomenal PT. Her positive energy is contagious and she has a beautiful fam and great career to show for it!! We're lucky that Jaime found us back in 2008!! Take a minute to enjoy Jaime's piece below....

I met Jim in 2008 and had the honor of shadowing him as I embarked on a journey to change my career. At the time, I was working for a corporation but was interested in becoming a physical therapist. Through Jim, I learned about endless energy, active listening, and grit. I also learned how to never drop someone on the leg press again.

Jim showed me how to live the dream. After working together for 2 years, I went on to pursue my doctor in physical therapy in 2010. I’ve worked in ICUs, acute rehab, outpatient therapy, and a digital start up dedicated to providing patients with rehab through an app. In each of these various settings, I reflect on my time at Fortius and remember why decided to become a PT: to learn from people everyday while helping them regain their full mobility.
