FACTIONS OF THE LIGHT
I was at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, viewing René Magritte’s The Portrait, when literally hundreds of people, wearing facial masks, infiltrated the entry area and, ultimately, caused the closing of the museum as they began chanting in support of the Palestinian people, who, they claimed, were being invaded by Israel.
I stared at Magritte’s eye as it stared back at me and considered how factions of a people are too often taken as the whole.
In the case of my Country...and I’ll use pseudonyms, so as not to offend anyone... a fellow I’ll call Donny Punk is trying to subvert our Constitution and bring about a semi, if not ultimately complete dictatorship, while his already dictator friend, who I’ll call Drad Pu**in, continues to reign over his nation while trying to subvert other nations in Europe, as well. Meanwhile, a guy I’ll call Nutty Yahoo is turning a noble middle eastern nation into the potential cesspool the MOMA invaders were protesting.
I have good friends in both these foreign (to me) nations and, as is the case here, they abhor the fact factions within their nations are considered the entire nation.
What is more telling to me for such “leaders” and for any other person is what I call their Consciousness Level, a measurement of the moral, as well as what I’ll call the “life intelligence” of a person. It’s a tool I discovered in Peru, years ago, and is the first thing I access, when working with a client, because it allows me to know how best to relate to them.
Thinking of it as a moral thermometer, going from zero to a thousand, I have known or know of only 4 people at or above the 800 level and only scatterings of those above 500. I work, mostly, with clients in the 300 to 400 range, hoping to help them move above 400. (Note that there are a number of people in the current upper U.S. executive group, who I call “the 390s.” Give me a call. 😊)
One of my findings has been that couples who have similar “scores,” whether high or low, are more compatible than those in which there are considerably different scores ...the adage of “birds of a feather flock together” being very true, at least in those couples where both score below 400. (Once both members of a couple are above 400, their individual scores can be disparate without it seeming to negatively affect the relationship. I believe a greater degree of mutual “acceptance” comes more deeply into play within the higher levels.)
Society’s main problems exist with those having measurements below 200. These are individuals who most might consider “evil,” but again with those having similar scores being compatible. For example, in the case of the supposed Punk and Pu**in, at common measurements of 150, it would indicate why they would get along, quite well.
However, in the case of a Nutty Yahoo, I really can’t comment without knowing of any other human, who might have a score near a disastrously low 20.
My point is that factions of a group or a nation should not be considered as the whole, when commenting on or condemning them. It’s rarely or never that all Americans, Russians, Israelis or the overwhelmingly vast percentage of any other nation stands for some evil.
It is our duty to strive to become and be factions of the Light and that state of being is where specificity is vitally important and more conducive to peaceful and meaningful discourse and relationship whether at home, work or in society.
In this endeavor, I’m asking Magritte’s spirit to help us all keep an eye open to the Light.
