With great sadness, we note the passing of Christopher Mills, MD. Dr. Mills was an exemplary surgeon and former Chair at St. Vincent’s Medical Center before coming to Mount Sinai Beth Israel in 2010.

He recently retired from active practice.

The American Board of Surgery has issued a statement regarding Residency Redesign. Significant changes are coming to the structure of surgical training.

The American Board of Surgery envisions a new paradigm for general surgery training, with greater autonomy and flexibility.

The Chief Surgical Residents organized a surgical skills "top gun" competition, held on Saturday, May 9th. Rising PGY-4 Residents, Nirav Desai, MD, and Jon Villena, MD, pictured were doing a vascular anastomosis exercise.

The winner of the "Top Gun" competition was Rising PGY-3 resident, Helmi Lwin, MD. Rising PGY-4 resident, Julie Kim, MD, came in second place.
