November is Healthy Skin Month. As Founder and Medical Director of UnionDerm, promoting healthy skin is at the heart of everything we do. Over the next few weeks, our physicians will be sharing their personal healthy skin tips.

My tip: less is more. Great skin doesn’t come from doing everything—it comes from doing what’s right for you. A simple, consistent routine and carefully chosen treatments make all the difference.

One of my favorite treatments for tightening and smoothing skin after weight loss? Thermage.
This noninvasive radiofrequency treatment helps firm and contour areas on the face and/or body where skin can lose elasticity — like above the knees — by stimulating new collagen over time. The result: tighter, smoother, more confident skin: without the downtime.

The results speak for themselves. This patient underwent four FOLIX treatments spaced one month apart — and these photos, taken at her three-month follow-up, show visibly thicker, fuller hair.
As one of the first practices in the country to offer this FDA-approved laser treatment for hair loss, we’re now seeing real patient results.
✨ Pro tip: Early intervention is key when it comes to treating hair thinning or shedding — the sooner treatment begins, the better the outcome.

✨ Myth: Lasers aren’t safe for darker skin tones.
💡 Fact: With the right technology and expertise, laser treatments can be performed safely and effectively on all skin tones.

As a board-certified dermatologist, I hear this misconception often — but the truth is, advancements in laser technology have made it possible to treat everything from hyperpigmentation to acne scars and unwanted hair across the full spectrum of skin types.

The key is working with a board-certified dermatologist experienced in treating skin of color who understands how to:
✅ Carefully assess each patient and determine if their condition can be safely treated
✅ Choose the appropriate laser device and settings
✅ Determine the correct treatment depth and energy
✅ Optimize pre- and post-treatment care to protect and enhance results

Glutathione has been nicknamed the “master antioxidant” — but what does the science actually say? 🧴✨

In a recent review I co-authored with Dr. Rayva Khanna and Dr. Pooja Rambhia ( ), we found that TOPICAL glutathione shows promise for improving hyperpigmentation, reducing UV-induced redness, and supporting skin barrier health. While early data is encouraging, the research is still limited — and more high-quality trials are needed before we can draw firm conclusions.

As dermatologists, we’re excited by its antioxidant potential, but mindful of the ethical considerations around skin-lightening products. Bottom line: it’s a promising ingredient, but we need larger, long-term studies before calling it a skincare hero. Until then, I recommend viewing it as an emerging ingredient — not a miracle cure.

As a dermatologist, I see how deeply hair loss can affect confidence — and I want my patients to know there are more solutions than ever before.

💊 Prescription medications (oral and topical) that slow shedding and preserve thickness.
💉 PRP injections that harness the body’s own platelets to activate dormant follicles.
✨ And the FOLIX™ laser, the first FDA-cleared laser device for hair loss — an exciting new non-invasive treatment.
No two patients’ stories are the same (whether it’s genetic, postpartum, or stress-related). But one thing is consistent: the earlier we treat, the better the results. I’m here to guide patients through these options so they can feel confident in their path forward.
