In the past I would have thought this quote was not true. Now I see how loving myself fiercely is so good for my relationship, and that love that I have for myself helps me to speak up, and say what I feel, need and what is going on for me. Does this resonate with you?

Speak your truth to minimize w**ds in your relationship using the “Weed Check” Method

Weeds in a garden if not spotted and addressed can take over and destroy a beautiful garden

“Relationship w**ds” if not regularly spotted and addressed can destroy a relationship

Spot new w**ds:

A Feeling and/or sensations in your body.

Such Feeling sad, angry, afraid, lonely.

Sensation such as tight jaw, empty feeling in chest, uncomfortable feeling in your belly.

Name the w**d:

To yourself and ask yourself what you need.

Then take the chance and say to your partner something like:

“I’ve noticed I’ve been feeling a little distant lately, and I think it’s worth talking about.”

Invite your partner:

“Can we look at this together before it grows into something bigger?”

"I noticed that I want to withdraw from you, related to a feeling that I am having, and I’d feel better if we could talk it through together instead of me pulling away. "

I want to introduce you to my new book. As we are going through profound changes in our environment as well as in our social consciousness, I felt it was time to make a statement about the immense power of deep relationship. Relative to Everything makes the case that necessary adaptations to a new world begin with how we relate to those closest to us. Our committed relationships are suffering from unsustainable patterns of living. The future will need to be one that is more reliant on our social support networks, but sadly we have drifted far apart over the past few generations. Our relationship skills are going to be a crucial part of adapting to a more sustainable planet. Relative to Everything is my attempt to examine how we can cultive the kind of relationships we will require.
