🎹Practice isn’t always about practicing physically.

🎓Studies have shown numerous benefits to shadow practice, which is essentially mimicking without an instrument what you would play/practice on an instrument.

🙇‍♀️Mental practice is visualizing the motions and practicing in your mind. Both have shown similar benefits to actually practicing your instrument physically.

🤭While it might not be as fun, it’s important during periods of time where you are stressing your body under high loads of practice that you try in incorporate other methods of practice. If you overload your body and it is not prepped to handle it, you could be putting yourself at high risk for serious injury!

Unfortunately, while it is common for musicians to experience pain, it isn’t always easy to determine the cause.

👀Large speculation has “overuse” injury to be a cause of majority of symptoms and pain musicians feel.

👉🏼I put quotations around “overuse,” because most musicians fail to prepare, thus they prepare to fail. Overuse is synonymous for underprepared, meaning that lots of instrumentalist don’t participate in enough progressive overload to prepare their bodies to handle the stresses of practice and performance.

🗃There’s always a why behind the what, and that’s what we have to find to start making progress.

💪🏼Lifting is for everyone, regardless of profession and body type. We are trying to improve quality of life and preserve careers and make our goals achievable with minimal obstacles.

Musicians are like athletes. Athletes strength train. Do you?

Poor endurance and muscular strength are highly correlated with pain and loss of dexterity in musicians. Be proactive, not reactive.
