There were so many emotions last night seeing last night on the day of 's homecoming. What I witnessed in the crowd is the continued fulfillment of Bobby's legacy and his vision for the music of the Grateful dead to continue for 300 years. There were fathers and mothers there with their sons and daughters. Old friends together who went to their first shows together. Friends who met and continue to meet up at shows. New friends connected through the community that this music has created.
This music created a culture. A counter culture that has become main stream and part of the fabric of America. The music is a generation that has become music for generations.
Bobby was the epitome of the American dream. A child adopted at birth with dyslexia, a learning disability, who didn't graduate high school. But he listened to his calling and followed his intuition when he met up with his merry band of pranksters. Together they created a legacy that will live in because they shared their music with so many other musicians.
I heard and felt in John Mayer's words that he truly gets the sacred bond between the music and the . The band will keep playing on!
