Our CEO & Co-Founder, Colleen Brennan, had the honor of attending this year’s Feok (Fiok) Festival in Sandema, Upper East Region of Ghana, celebrated under the theme “Peace, a Necessary Tool for Development.”

Held each December, the Feok Festival honors the Bulsa people’s historic victory over 18th-century slave raiders and celebrates a successful harvest. Through traditional war dances, ancestral attire, and vibrant cultural displays, the festival reflects a powerful legacy of resilience, unity, and cultural pride.

During her visit, Colleen met with traditional chiefs and community leaders, deepening relationships built on trust and shared purpose. Together with the community, we commissioned borehole wells and engaged in planning discussions to expand our Dry Season Farming and Water Projects, supporting sustainable livelihoods and access to clean water for families.

Moments like these remind us that meaningful humanitarian work begins with listening, learning, and walking alongside communities, honoring their past while working toward a healthier, more resilient future.

We are deeply grateful for the warm welcome and continued partnership with the people of Sandema. 🤍

During her visit to Sandema in the Upper East Region of Ghana, our CEO & Co-Founder, Colleen Brennan, met with the local farming group at the site of our third farm location, now in its early planning stages. Together, they walked the land, shared ideas, and discussed what’s ahead. With a solar-mechanized borehole well provided through our Water Project already in place, this next phase is about turning access to water into sustainable farming and stronger livelihoods for the community. More to come as this project grows. 🌱💧

During her visit to our new wells, our CEO & Co-Founder, Colleen Brennan, spent time listening, learning, and sharing moments with the women, families, and leaders in each community. One of the most meaningful parts was watching communities read their commitments aloud, promising to care for and maintain their well together. Clean water changes daily life, but it’s this shared responsibility that helps make the impact last.

Join us in supporting the Water Project and help bring sustainable clean water to more communities across Ghana.

Our CEO & Co-Founder, Colleen Brennan, recently visited Nawasa Farm as part of our Dry Season Farming and Water Project in the Upper East Region of Ghana. She met with the community and saw firsthand the incredible impact of our work.

Under the guidance of Peter, our master farmer, the farm has expanded from 1 acre to 2¼ acres, feeding many families and children, plus enough to sell and pay school fees for children. This farm is also an important source that supports their daily needs.

Even more exciting, we’re launching a farming training center at this model farm to equip young, jobless men with skills and opportunities in sustainable agriculture.

Every harvest, every lesson, and every seed planted is a step toward stronger communities and brighter futures.

Follow our journey and see how your support is helping communities thrive! www.xowpfoundation.org

The joy, gratitude, and warm welcome from the community were truly moving and a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

Colleen was joined by one of our Board Directors, Christopher Akanbobnaab, who also serves as our Director of International Affairs for Africa, during this important visit.

Being a volunteer isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.

Long days, tired feet, and endless tasks are all part of the journey, but so are the smiles, the hugs, and the moments when you see a child’s or mother’s life transformed. Our volunteers give their hearts fully, and in return, they experience the joy and purpose that comes from helping others.

You can be part of this journey too. Join us and help bring hope, care, and change to communities that need it most.
