Serves more than 12 million people in New York City; on Long Island; in Rockland and Westchester counties; at the U.S. We respond to approximately seven emergencies and disasters a day across the region—home fires, floods, building collapses—and more, providing shelter, food, clothing and emotional support at no cost to those in need. We also collect blood, teach lifesaving skills, and support military members, veterans and their families.

Introducing Kelly Spencer, one of our inspiring Team Red Cross runners for the 2026 ! 🏃‍♀️

As an active duty U.S. Army nurse and a spouse, Kelly has witnessed the Red Cross mission from every angle, through disaster response, military support, and lifesaving blood services.
“In trauma care, when every second counts, access to blood is a lifeline. Survival often hinges on timely access to blood.”

Finding time for long runs while caring for her two-year-old has been the biggest challenge, but also the greatest joy. “He’s started asking to ‘go run’ himself. Seeing his excitement has made training even more meaningful.”

Kelly, thank you for your service, your compassion, and your unwavering dedication to saving lives. ❤️

We are happy to introduce you to Jaimie Harden, one of our 2026 Team Red Cross runners for the ! 🏃‍♀️

Jaimie joined Team Red Cross because our mission aligns with everything she cares about: public health, emergency readiness, and supporting families when they have nowhere else to turn.

She’s especially motivated by the immediate relief the provides: food, shelter, and hands-on support that families feel right away.

When asked about the challenges about training for this Half Marathon, she told us “Most recently, this much colder winter weather! But it’s so nice to get moving and making this training part of my regular routine.”

Thank you, Jaimie, for braving the cold, embracing the challenge, and running for families who need comfort, care, and hope. ❤️

We're thrilled to announce another honoree for the 2026 Heroes Gala taking place on March 18 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. ⛑️

Introducing Christopher Perez, our Good Samaritan Hero.
On March 28, 2025, while delivering mail along his usual route, Christopher noticed smoke rising from Jefferson Valley Senior Living and sprang into action. Finding an elderly resident trapped on a balcony, he acted before firefighters arrived, positioning his mail truck beneath the balcony, climbing up, and guiding the man to safety through intense heat and advancing flames.

Christopher’s courage, quick thinking, and instinct to protect others embody the spirit of this award and the values that strengthen our communities.
