This was us heading home today on the bus after a long stretch of appointments. The last two weeks have been mentally and physically draining between dialysis and all the testing to get onto the transplant list. I honestly feel like a pin cushion right now.
I have to give a huge thank you to Madison for being there for every single step. I know she must be exhausted too, and I appreciate and love her for holding it down. We’re back at it tomorrow for a fistula cleaning, but hopefully, all this hard work pays off and I finally make that list.

My most recent dialysis session was a highlight. Painless cannulation, good energy levels, and no 'dialysis hangover' - I even felt energized after finishing. Fingers crossed for more sessions like this one.

I got my second infusion for my Atypical HUS today. It went a lot smoother with the exception of getting my blood drawn and getting a special injection. They gave me anti-nausea medicine this time because last time I threw up. I'm glad I got through another treatment

I started my first infusion treatment, the treatment had to be paused for a while because I started throwing up but I was able to finish the session. 😁

So we are learning more about my diagnosis of Atypical Hus. So apparently less than 5,000 people have this in the US 😮. That's kinda crazy

Just saw the hemotologist this morning about my Atypical HUS disease. We talked about my treatment which will be for the rest of my life. I have a treatment date, so hopefully once I start, I will be eligible to be put on the transplant list.

Initially, the hospital told us the cause of Jesus's kidney failure was his Type-1 diabetes even though they didnt take a kidney biopsy like they were supposed to but with recent testing for the transplant, they discovered that Jesus has a rare disease called Atypical HUS which could be the actual cause of his kidney failure. Atypical HUS is a rare chronic disease which affects only one in every one million people. It is a condition that causes blood clots in small blood vessels in the kidneys and other organs. The doctors are doing more testing to see what the appropriate treatement forJesus will be. Even though discovering that he has this disease has been tough, there is a positive side, once he gets on a treatment plan, that should be able to clear him to be put on the transplant list.
