save this if you love running. just not on the ground….

3 variations. 1 min each. your heart will think you’re running — your joints will think you’re swimming.

run — keep your ribs closed and over your hips. push down into the trampoline instead of trying to skip up

open run — knees come to elbows, keep the legs about 45 degrees in front of you to activate your obliques

tempo run — quick fire through the back of the hamstrings as you press low into the mat

the demons are water soluble apparently….

here’s the actual science: your lymphatic system is responsible for clearing waste, toxins, and excess fluid from your body — but unlike your cardiovascular system, it has no pump. it relies entirely on movement and gravity to circulate. the up-and-down motion of bouncing on a trampoline acts like a valve, opening and closing the lymph channels with every rep. ten minutes of this and your immune system has done more work than it would in a full day of sitting.

rebounding is one of those workouts that looks easier than it is and feels better than it should.

here’s what’s actually happening when you bounce:

nasa found that 10 minutes on a trampoline delivers the same cardiovascular benefit as 30 minutes of running — and that your muscles are working harder even when your heart rate looks the same. the effort is real. it just doesn’t announce itself.

the joint story is the other half of it. the mat absorbs up to 80% of the impact that pavement or a gym floor would send straight through your ankles, knees, and hips. which is why people who can’t run anymore can do this — and why people who can run choose this instead.

and then there’s the lymphatic system angle, which most people have never thought about: your lymphatic system has no pump of its own. it relies on movement and gravity to circulate. the up-and-down motion of bouncing is one of the most efficient ways to stimulate it — your immune system is working every time you are.

harder than it looks. gentler than it sounds. worth trying!
