"As outreach officers for ECHO Free Clinic, we’ve connected with Bronx residents who have gone decades without health care, forced to make the impossible choice between groceries, rent, or a doctor’s visit. The Saturday free clinic ends up being their lifeline in the midst of a broken, segregated, and complex healthcare system.
We dream of a New York where free clinics are relics of the past – where a single working mother doesn’t delay her mammogram to continue supporting her child, where an uncle with diabetes doesn’t ration his insulin to simply make it through the month, where a union worker with a disability gets the long-term care they need without going into debt, where health is a right guaranteed to every person who calls this state home."
