Phaseolus Lunatus (Lima Beans), cultivated since approximately 5,000 years ago in Ancient Peru, was a very important crop for the Moche Culture and the Inka Nation.
Consuming one cup a day helps to prevent Colon Cancer and contributes to Colon health. It has a high fiber component and resistant starch, which also makes a healthier gut. More info in the comments.

The real importance of water for the Inka Empire, before and after.
Water was an element of survival for humans, animal, the agriculture and for the Inka himself. In this picture, it is an outstanding Silver Art of the Chimu Culture (c. 900-1470 CE) in the form of a very designed, artistic, unique water pitcher. The act of drinking water was a conscious act of health and responsibility with himself/herself, it was an important part of ancient public health.

I am sharing with you this important medical article called "Influence of the Climates of Peru on Tuberculosis (Pulmonary Consumption is the historical term), written by Dr. Archibald Smith, in 1856, almost 200 years ago. Dr Smith was a very distinguished American physician in the19th century. He was ahead of his time, because his work focused on public health, before public organizations were created, and when "sanitary awakening started to develop, and follow with the creation of state health departments and more.

It is necessary to remember the scientific value of medical doctors, and Traditional Medicine Doctors including the Inka Traditional Medicine doctors, to learn that medicine, public health and prevention it was created thousands of years ago, and perhaps we needed, and still need to awake, to realize its great value for the health of the human beings.

Inka Traditional Medicine Awareness Campaign
The Inka experts in metals and art, including when the art involves the representation of human beings. These beautiful gold figurines representing male and females in a peaceful state of mind, including the female figurine at the right, which seems to hold in her arms a baby for breastfeeding. The Inka Traditional Medicine Doctors knew Human Anatomy very well, to do art, and to practice medicine and surgery, including neurosurgery when their well documented Cranial Trepanations needed to be done. The care of their communities were also dedicated to improve the well-being, and advance to a greater extent the Inka Empire.
