As caregivers, burnout is a very real thing. Sometimes, it's hard to understand where to begin. That's why it's helpful to think about your burnout through a proven framework.

The framework we want to highlight today is called CARES, for dementia-support tech. It shows the 5 main ways technology can make life easier for families:

C — Cognitive offloading:
Tools that help take pressure off memory (reminders, prompts, simple cues).

A — Automation:
Tech that handles repeat tasks so caregivers don’t have to.

R — Remote monitoring:
Checking in on safety and wellbeing from anywhere.

E — Emotional & social support:
Helping people feel connected, supported, and not alone.

S — Symptom treatment:
Activities and tools that help improve mood, focus, or slow decline.

If you find yourself struggling to find the right thing to say or way to respond when caring for someone with dementia, we highly recommend following Adria Thompson @ Be Light Care Consulting. She always has super helpful tips and explanations for why the person you're caring for is responding the way they are. You can find her on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and LinkedIn!

Here are a few tips we've referred back to more than a few times:

- Helping them stay independent for things that seem simple like getting dressed: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16CxkZiSKY/

To every caregiver, you are seen, you are appreciated, and you are loved!

Whether you’re reminding them where they are, helping them eat, calming their fears, or just sitting quietly nearby…
You are doing some of the most meaningful, unseen work there is.

It’s exhausting. It’s relentless. And still you show up.

This is for the spouses, children, neighbors, and friends who keep going, even when it’s hard.
You are the reason someone feels safe.
You are the memory when theirs fades.
You are love in action.

💐 Take a moment today for yourself. You matter, too.

Tag a caregiver you admire. Let them know they’re not alone. 💙

🧠 Nearly half of older adults living with dementia never get a formal diagnosis.

But here’s the hopeful part:
➡️ Early detection can delay nursing home placement by over a year
➡️ Some memory issues are reversible if caught early (like vitamin deficiencies or medication side effects)
➡️ Treatments and support work best when started early

The RUDAS (Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale) is a short, easy, and designed for people of all backgrounds, especially when traditional tests don’t feel like a good fit.

👉 Try it yourself, with a loved one, or share with someone who may need it:

Dementia care is hard. Together, we can make it easier.

We’re a new company on a mission to help individuals with dementia stay independent in their own homes for as long as possible. We've just secured funding to build a 24/7 at-home support tool but need your help.

We’re inviting a few families to shape what's next.
