Did you know that you can wake up from sleep due to a panic attack? These are known as Nocturnal Panic Attacks (NPA). People might develop fear of sleeping once the association between a panic attack and sleeping are made. Data shows that the majority of patients with panic attacks experience Nocturnal Panic Attacks. The comorbidities that are associated with NPA are depression, anxiety, and phobias. Luckily, there are treatments for NPA. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are reported to be effective.

Did you know that panic attacks are related to social anxiety disorder (SAD)? One study shows that people with situational panic attacks exhibited more fear and avoidance in a number of social situations. They also found demographic differences in terms of panic attacks with SAD. Being male, black, Asian, or over the age 65 is less likely to experience situational panic attacks. On the other hand, if you are unemployed, the likelihood of experiencing situational panic attacks increases.

Did you know that procrastination is closely related to anxiety? Procrastination usually refers to the action of delaying or postponing a task. A study shows that panic disorder uniquely predicted procrastination. This is because panic disorders are linked to different types of avoidance behavior. Avoiding doing something indeed can reduce short-term anxiety. In the long term, the anxiety often persists. However, what remains unknown is the direction of this relationship: either procrastination leads to panic attacks, or panic attacks lead to procrastination.
