As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we honor the trans women who have always been at the forefront of the fight for liberation. Black trans women have built the LGBTQ+ movement as we know it, and their legacy lives on in every fight.

On Trans Day of Visibility, we recognize that visibility is not always safe or possible. What must always be possible is support. From gender affirming care, an LGBTQIA+ youth clubhouse, protesting for trans rights in Albany, D.C. and New York, we will continue to stand for trans everywhere.

Happy to our trans community. 🩵🩷🤍🩷

12 years ago, The Undetectables began at Housing Works with a simple but powerful idea: incentivizing people to take their HIV medication.

Dr. Archie shares how The Undetectables program proves to be innovative and successful. With nine city partnerships, the program continues to create healing spaces, build community, and support people in staying on their HIV medication.

🩷 Undetectable means untransmittable—and that brings us one step close to ending the AIDS epidemic.

There are 60,000 New Yorkers living undetectable thanks to the incentivizing HIV/AIDS prevention programs like The Undetectables. For 12 years, Housing Works has been contributing to ending the AIDS epidemic and proving that when people are supported, prevention works.

👉Here are 3 commons questions about becoming undetectable:

- What does suppressing my viral load mean for other people?
- What does managing HIV look like?
- Why should I see myself as a superhero rather than a victim?

Although Black Americans represent only 12% of the U.S. population, they account for a disproportionate share of HIV diagnoses (39%), people living with HIV (40%), and deaths among people with HIV (43%). These numbers underscore the urgent need for accessible, affirming care.

Housing Works co-founder Keith Cylar was a relentless advocate who led the fight to obtain safe and secure housing, job training, and other support services for homeless New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.

He was also a pioneer in harm reduction, working with active substance users at Housing Works and across the nation. He coined the term “pleasure activism” as a feel-good approach to transforming society and making the world a better place for everyone.
