NF Walk brings the community together to raise awareness, support families, and move us closer to ending NF.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation’s Walk Program was established in 2009 as an important national fundraising program to support NF research, raise awareness, and provide support for individuals with NF and their families. Over the last ten years it has raised more than $10 million. In 2019, the campaign was branded Shine a Light NF Walk, CTF’s signature fundraising event, to bring NF out of the sha

Wow, just like that, Florida wrapped up our final event of the 2025 Shine a Light Walk season! ☀️

The Florida NF community showed up big time and shined bright to raise awareness and fuel the fight to . It was an unforgettable day celebrating our NF heroes and the incredible spirit that brings us all together. 💙💚

A huge THANK YOU to Florida’s very own Farida Timal, who passed the walk director torch after 10 amazing years of dedication. We were proud to honor her with the ‘Guiding Light Award’ for her outstanding leadership and heart! ✨

And shoutout to Houston for wrapping up their walk weekend with a success, too!

We might be done walking, but we’re not done fundraising! Keep that momentum going, fundraising for those super cool rewards closes December 5! 💪🎉

Today we’re proud to feature Isobelle Mick, 19-year-old NF1 hero from our Shine a Light Walk Florida!

Diagnosed shortly before her 3rd birthday, Isobelle’s NF1 was suspected from birth due to several large café-au-lait spots that continued to appear as she grew, along with delayed milestones. Her family found the Children’s Tumor Foundation after she was diagnosed and they’ve been part of our community ever since, hosting fundraisers, attending events, and even participating in Racing4Research! 🏁

Each year, Isobelle looks forward to the Shine a Light Walk as a place to meet new people, raise awareness, and feel a sense of belonging.

Isobelle shares, “I participate in the walks because it helps me feel a since of belonging. I was a spontaneous mutation so I am the only one in my family with NF. Most of the time I feel isolated due to not having anyone near me that has NF and can understand what I’m going through. The NF walks gives me a signs of belonging and an odd sense of comfort. I’m around people with the same condition who can relate, as well as seeing people that look like me, they have spots, freckles, and bumps over their body.”

And of course, Isobelle says she loves getting the chance to scream at the top of her lungs!

She leaves us with a quote as a reminder that every person is enough, just as they are:

A peak into the Carolinas fantastic walk this past weekend! 🎉

More than 160 supporters gathered on Saturday to rally for the Carolinas NF community, raising nearly $103,000 in our effort to 💚💙

A meaningful day for spreading love and awareness in honor of our NF heroes 🫶

We’d also like to congratulate the Denver, New Jersey, and New York NF communities on rocking their walks too!! 🌟

Good luck to Cleveland with their first walk on Saturday! We know you’ll crush it 👏

✨ Meet Claire Flanagan, this week’s star 💫

Diagnosed with NF1 last May, at only 3 years old, Claire has already shown incredible strength. Since her diagnosis, she has faced countless MRIs, doctors’ appointments, tumors, and medications. NF has brought many challenges for Claire and her family, but through it all, they remain committed to walking beside her every step of the way.

This year marks the very first Shine a Light Walk Cleveland for Claire’s family. To honor her, they formed Claire’s Crew. A team dedicated not only to supporting Claire, but also to spreading awareness and fundraising for the NF community.

For the Flanagans, the walk is more than just an event. It’s a chance to connect with others, raise awareness, and bring hope to families who share the same journey.

Candace shares:
⭐ “It is important to us to be there to help support everyone who is going through this and to help spread as much awareness and funding as we can. Since there is no cure, we try to do as much as we can to help support Claire and all the individuals going through this disease.”

Together, Claire’s Crew will shine a light for Claire and for all our NF Heroes. Thank you for sharing your story 💡💙

Welcome back to another ! Today we recognize 3-year-old Isabelle Mota, the heart of Team Izzy Bear for the Shine a Light Walk Southern California. ☀️🧸

Isabelle’s mother, Darlene first connected with Children’s Tumor Foundation through the website after Isabelle was diagnosed with NF1 at one year old.

Each year they look forward to meeting more people and showing our NF heroes they’re not alone in this fight.

Darlene shares, “It’s hard. I am just learning what her future holds. This walk is important because we need more visibility on this diagnosis.” Thank you for sharing your story 🫂
