Montefiore Einstein Bioethics

Montefiore Einstein Bioethics in Bioethics, Internships, and Clinical Ethics Fellowship.

The Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics is home to Montefiore's Clinical Ethics Consultation Service, Institutional Bioethics Committee, Certificate in Bioethics and Medical Humanities, M.S. Welcome to Einstein Cardozo Bioethics - fostering ethical practices in patient care, research and health policy. This collaboration between Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Cardozo Law builds upon the long history and rich clinical experience of the Montefiore Einstein bioethics consultation service. Our unique program integrates scholarship in medicine, law and the humanities, and includes a strong narrative focus to expand students' understanding of complex bioethical issues. With courses such as Consultation Skills, Reproductive Ethics, Empathy, and Policy Writing, our program provides personal enrichment while equipping you with the skills you need to navigate the nuances of policy and regulation in a changing healthcare environment. We accept applications from a diverse array of professionals, including physicians, lawyers, nurses, clergy and recent college graduates, who seek a deeper understanding of how bioethics can help them make a difference in patients' lives.

In observance of the first day of Kwanzaa, we recognize and honor the seven guiding principles: unity, self-determination, collective responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. Together, these values affirm the importance of community, accountability, and shared commitment to human flourishing.

These principles also align with our ethical obligation to advance equity, build trust, and promote justice in health care, medicine, and research. The faculty and staff of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics wishes a meaningful and restorative Kwanzaa centered on reflection, purpose, and connection.

As we mark Christmas, we reflect on themes of compassion, generosity, and care for one another. These values resonate deeply with our commitment to healthcare and at the heart of our work are ethical commitments to empathy, service, and respect for the dignity of every person. May this season bring peace, healing, and hope to all who celebrate.

As we light the menorah this Hanukkah, we reflect on the enduring values of hope, resilience, and the power of light to overcome darkness. These themes resonate deeply with our work in bioethics in which thoughtful dialogue, compassion, and moral courage help illuminate complex questions in health care, medicine, and research.

May this Festival of Lights bring peace, healing, and renewed commitment to justice and human dignity for all.

Today we honor the lives lost to HIV/AIDS, stand with the nearly 40 million people worldwide living with HIV, and reaffirm our commitment to equity, compassion, and ethical care. We recognize that the fight against HIV/AIDS has always been about more than medicine. It is a fight for justice, dignity, and human rights.

We remember the communities disproportionately impacted, confront the stigma that still endures, and advocate for policies and practices that ensure all people have access to prevention, treatment, and support. On this World AIDS Day, we recommit ourselves to:

🔹 Centering patient voices

🔹 Challenging inequities in care

🔹 Supporting ethical research and community partnerships

🔹 Promoting compassion in every encounter

Together, we move forward—toward a future free of stigma, full of solidarity, and grounded in respect for every human life.
