Great alignment… but look closely 👀
In the initial smile photo, you can see signs of a tongue thrust habit, with the tongue posturing forward against the front teeth. Despite excellent alignment and a beautifully coordinated arch form at the end of treatment, there remains a slight anterior open bite—a direct reflection of that persistent habit.
This transformation shows how powerful and stubborn habits can be. Teeth don’t exist in isolation—muscle habits matter just as much as mechanics.
We addressed this case with careful planning, alignment, and bite coordination, but even with the best orthodontic mechanics, habit-driven forces can still influence the final result.
💡 Key takeaway:
Orthodontics moves teeth—but function guides stability.
Long-term success in cases like this depends on:
• Awareness of tongue posture
• Myofunctional correction when needed
• Retention strategies tailored to the patient
