Thank you to our outstanding employee unions, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and UFT - United Federation of Teachers (Federation of Nurses), for stepping up at a critical moment and calling on New York State lawmakers to act now.

We urgently need high acuity MLTC plan rates fixed to protect the VNS Health nurses, home health aides, and other dedicated workers who care for more than 95,000 New Yorkers in their homes and communities on any given day. Their advocacy highlights how vital this workforce is and why immediate action is essential.

From 1199SEIU:
“The fact that plans serving a higher-acuity population are in financial jeopardy, and two have gone out of business, is an indication of the failures of our current home care system. We urge the Legislature to support this short-term action to stabilize a quality plan while pursuing structural reform of the program.”

From UFT President Michael Mulgrew and Federation of Nurses VP Anne Goldman:
“New York has made clear that caring for seniors and people with disabilities in their homes is a priority. That goal requires stable providers and a strong workforce. Ensuring that VNS Health can continue serving the highest-need patients while maintaining good union jobs should be part of that commitment.”

Their message is clear: Albany must act now to fix these rates in the budget and protect the workers and plans caring for New York’s highest-need patients

Hospice workers on our team support the patient and their loved ones physically, emotionally, and spiritually. ❤️

One of our patients’ caregivers commended hospice liaison Adriana for making him feel comfortable during a difficult time. “Adriana’s ability to communicate with me and coordinate with other staff members was exceptional,” the caregiver says. “I appreciate the caring nature of the VNS Health Hospice team.”

3, 2, 1 Happy Birthday Lillian Wald! 🥳 🎂

Besides being the founder of what would become VNS Health, Lillian was a pioneering nurse and social reformer. She believed health care was a basic human right that should be delivered not just in hospitals, but in homes and communities.

Lillian had a vision that went beyond medical treatment. She supported public health nursing, advocated for children and working families, and fought for social justice at a time when many communities were overlooked and underserved.

Today, we celebrate her and the legacy she created by providing compassionate, community-based care to all our neighbors across New York. Happy Birthday Lillian! 👏 👏 👏

Today is International Women’s Day! ♀️

For 115 years, IWD has celebrated women's achievements, raised awareness about discrimination, and taken action to forge gender parity. The global impact begins in the home and our mission is to ensure everyone gets the right care they need. We celebrate and thank the women at VNS Health who are providing care for our neighbors in the comfort of their home. ♥️

Social workers like Natasha, an associate director of the Home Health Program, who meets people where they are. “Here at VNS Health Home Health team, we meet clients wherever they are – where they are in life, where they are in the community, where they are in their treatment. If you are in relapse, we will stay with them because that’s where you are. And we go from there.”

Our Shades of Blackness ERG put together an amazing Black History Month celebration event earlier today 🥳 🍕 (this was delayed because of all pesky snow 😡💢)!

Even though February is over, we celebrate our black team members and the black community every day. The impact we have in people’s lives couldn’t have been achieved without their continuous support. A big thank you to all our team members and to the Shades of Blackness ERG for hosting the celebration! ❤️

When Maria needed care after a tough battle with COVID-19, she knew exactly who to call. She remembered Vivien, the VNS Health home health aide who had helped her through a hip replacement years prior. Maria insisted on having Vivien by her side again, and they’ve been together ever since.

It's Social Work Month and we're celebrating our amazing social workers!

This year's theme is "Uplift. Defend. Transform" and focuses on improving the lives of all individuals in their respective community through empowerment and support. Our social workers embody that message by transforming the lives of the people they work with daily.
True care goes beyond treatment. It strengthens people, families, and whole communities. 🫂 ❤️
