While the main roads are thankfully paved, we know many of our Nurse Anesthesiologists and patients are battling some serious ruts just to get out of their driveways and down the backroads this week. Stop scrolling and go to bed.

Your phone will change the time automatically tonight—but your body won't. Because our devices handle the switch for us, it is easy to forget it is even happening until the alarm goes off.

Tonight we "spring forward," and while losing an hour of sleep sounds annoying, the health risks are real. Some studies show a spike in heart attacks and strokes in the days immediately following the time change due to stress on the body, while others have shown increased risks of traffic and workplace accidents.

Put the phone away early tonight. Hydrate. And give yourself extra time for the commute tomorrow morning so you aren't rushing!
