After 15+ years in the industry, I still hear, see and experience things that don't quite seem up to par- here are few that stand out!
👀 When meeting with a therapist for the first time- you should ALWAYS be filling out an intake form and be asked at least a few basic questions. My friend went to see someone new recently and all they did was ask them to get on the table 😭...
👀 We need to be checking in with our people not just on a physical level, but on a mental and emotional level too...! How's life been lately? We should have a decent idea of the stress you're holding onto, so you can let it go!
👀 A safe, warm, calm, clean and quiet environment should be basics. Some things are out of our control, but we really can't expect our clients to feel safe to relax if we don't even provide a full blanket to cover themselves! *I've experienced this personally 😳
👀 The option should be on the client if they want to chat during their session and then each session thereafter (without the assumption that it's always going to be the same). Shut up and let the client decide. This isn't your time to hold someone hostage to your soapbox. Learn coping mechanisms to quiet your damn mind and your mouth. *This one really pi**es me off!
👀 Don't tell people you do this and that and use trendy words if you haven't been in the trenches. Be confident in what works for you and your clientele. Fakers suck.
👀 Pricing should be all inclusive. Stop nickel and diming people, it's confusing and feels crappy... (Sure, we can add CBD cream! It'll be $25 extra! 😑)
No one is perfect, but we can definitely do our best as providers to gift the best possible experience...
I truly appreciate you being here 🪬
